The Day of The Funeral

Manuel Jr. came in last night and spent the night with us.   We woke up this Saturday morning to a nice sunny day but it was pretty cold and windy.  We went to have breakfast before heading to the 10 am Funeral Mass.

Oscar's Mass 039

The funeral mass was so beautiful.   The priest had some beautiful words to say about Oscar.  The big church was packed again.....Oscar was such a good man.  He was a very caring young man. His students cried so much!

We followed the procession down Ocean Drive.  Oscar loved the beach and loved sunsets....

There were several tables set us with pictures, favorite Bible scriptures, etc.

The Church has a ministry that prepares meals for the family after funerals.  The hall was full of family and friends.  The food was very good.

Oscar's Mass 010

Sylvia, Corina, Olga, Alicia and me.   We all went to high school and graduated together, except Corina, of course.  Olga baptized our Daughter, Corina.  It sure was nice to see Olga.

Yvette and a friend took care of setting up all the pictures and things....

There was a lot of fellowship.   We had not seen some of these friends since we left Driscoll in 1971.

Sone is heading home so we say goodbye.

Manuel took a really nice picture of Sone.

Oscar's Mass 038

We returned to the Coach in the early afternoon.   Manuel Jr. headed home to his family and Corina also left today.  We rested for a while.  Nice day but still on the cool side.

 Oscar's Mass 042

We had made plans to visit with my brother, Jesse and his wife, Berta at about 6 pm.  They attended all of the services but we were not able to visit much.   They wanted to take us to dinner so we went to Landry's by the sea.....We had a great dinner.  I forgot my camera, but my brother had his camera and took a few pictures.  I may borrow some from his blog later....We had another beautiful day with Family.
