San Juan, Texas

We made a trip with Minnie & Rene Esquivel.  We have been friends for about 40 years.  We had some promises to pay after Rene’s heart surgery and of course praying for Manuel’s health.  This is the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle.  It is a National Shrine.   It is a beautiful and serene place.  We lite several candles and stayed for the evening mass.

After mass, we went and had an awesome dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  We had such an awesome time together.  We really enjoyed catching up on things.  After dinner, we went on to our hotel and visiting until almost midnight before we called it a night.

The next morning, we had a full breakfast that the hotel was offering complimentary.  We then headed to visit a friend of The Esquivels.  This gentleman is a WWII Veteran who resides at the Veterans Nursing Home.  We enjoyed the visit with him.  Ended up that he grew up and knew some of Manuel’s Dad’s family..They have all passed away but he remembers them well.

On the way home, we were caught on terrible thunderstorms.  Some of the roads were flooded and were so glad to make it home safe.
