This evening we just drove around the base and took pictures. This is the Old Brook Army Medical Center building which has been turned in to offices….It is a beautiful building. We visited a friend here when it was a hospital and it was a truly outdated hospital back then, in the 90s.
The wording above the entrance door says “NON SIBI SED PROXIMO” and I wonder what they may mean?!
There are several old buildings surrounding the old hospital….
This is the Main Post Chapel which offers Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish services.
A long shot of the Wounded Warrior Bronze Statue in front of the Museum. We will have to visit this museum.
More old buildings….
We were not sure if this building was a residence or a hotel as it was among all the high ranking officials’ residence. It is being renovated and it is a gorgeous building.
Many of the old buildings have been made into hotels/motel-like housing.
This fort is called “The Quadrangle-Home of the US Army North”. It is The Headquarters for the 5th Army. It is really neat. I wonder what this base may have been like when my Father was stationed here in 1942. From here, he left for Germany and was active in WWII for two years and a couple of months straight until the war ended. He was with the 10th Army, I believe.
This building was outside the base but I thought it was nice looking, too.
Many, many old buildings that hold a lot of history. Wish I knew more about them.
I will have to look in to this dinner theatre….
More to come… it got late on me and I did not get to post all the pics. Until tomorrow!
