We drove about 4 miles to Wal-Mart and this is the looks of the fire. It looks awfully close to us.
This is what it looked like when we left the store....we asked several people about it but they are don't seem worried.

After watching the news extensively, they have evacuated people from the Manitou Springs are and Garden of The Gods area. That is only 6 or so miles from the Academy. Then they announced that they had voluntary evacuation north of the Academy. Then the winds changed from west to north so we decided to move north about 30 miles. We are in Castle Rock at our favorite camp ground...Wal-Mart. we both think we will be able to get some sleep here. Keeping close tabs on the news.
We had just visited Manitou Springs and Garden of The Gods yesterday and hope that all is okay there cause it is such a beautiful area....
By 11 pm, they announced that the fire was zero contained. We are glad we moved. We had planned to leave The Academy in the morning anyway and we are closer to Aurora, Buckley AFB.
