We made plans to take the trolley tour today. Our priority was to visit the Loretto Chapel again, which we had done about 10 years ago.
The tree to the right has many, many rosaries hanging from it. I imagine that they show favors or prayers answered from visitors.
The Chapel was built 134 years ago.
A replica of the spiral staircase built by a mysterious carpenter, with two 360 degree turns and no nails or screws (only wooden pegs) for support.
This is how it looked between 1877 and 1887. The banisters were later installed.
The Alter is beautiful at the Chapel..... The staircase as it looks today.
A lot of metal art in this city. We parked right by the burro and then we walked to the Plaza.
Evelina Esparza came down to visit us from Albuquerque, where she is a practicing Chiropractor.
We walk the arts & crafts area and had a great time there.
We had are ready to board the trolley....
It took us through every point of interest in Santa Fe.
There are many museums here.
Many old churches....
This was a beautiful house with a GREEN yard....
An old gas station now a bank....
The oldest part of the Plaza..
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi...
The oldest Church...
The State Capitol...No Dome? Law requires flat roofs, adobe and can not be higher than the Cathedral.
We went through many historic areas.
A look at the Sangre the Cristo Mountains ahead...
This is the only building we saw that showed wear. We were told the stucco has to be repaired every 5 years.
On to the high $ homes. Many movie stars own homes in this area. This was Carol Burnett's home.
We were driven up to Canyon Road where they have several museums....
Time to eat! We picked this Italian Restaurant on the Plaza.
More of the shops....
Evelina tries on this beautiful hat....
More crafts...
Just some of the modes of transportation.
