Albuquerque, NM

We woke up at about 5 am to thunder and heavy rain.  We went back to sleep and woke up at 8 am at which time we headed over to the Flying J Restaurant to have breakfast. In watching the news, Pecos had gotten 3 inches of rain in about 3 hours.  The rain was light so we decided to take off at 10 am.

They announced a flash flood watch as it was expected to rain all day in Pecos.

We walked thru the puddles.....

About 50 miles out of Pecos, it started to clear but the roads were wet.  They have a lot of pecan farms here.

Nice bronze statue.....not sure what it represents....picture is kind of blurry.

Nice looking old truck.  My dad used to have one but it was green; I think it is a '56 or '57.

They said they had been getting rain here, so this farm looks really green.

Back on the boring roads.....

Small town churches.....they are almost right next to each other....

 

We stop at this rest area for a little while.   It is early afternoon and it is about 80 degrees.  Very nice!

We stopped across the street and saw this neat diner (Penny's Diner).

Manuel is just walking for a little bit to rest his hinny.....I take picture of the diner...

Manuel takes this picture as he drives and I am way too relaxed and sleepy but I have done my co-piloting job.   The trip is planned out!

The mountain line.....is where Albuquerque sits.

It got cloudier and cloudier as we got closer to the city.....(Richard called us as we were fueling up.  It was  nice talking to you today).

We arrived at the Wal-Mart and it is nice and sunny here.  It is really cool out. 

After we got set up, there are about 8 RVs camping here.

This Wal-Mart is right next to the Karl Malone (Ex-Spurs Basketball Player) Toyota dealership.

We ate at the Boston Market which is on the same parking lot and right next to us.

We will call it a night and see what tomorrow brings.  We plan to drive to Durango, CO and camp there for 2-3 days and see some sights.

First Day on Road Trip

We took off on our summer trip at 6 am this morning.   We are in Pecos, TX at the moment.  Here are some pictures along this lonely, long road.....we were on this road not too long ago and there is not much to take pictures of but here we go......

 

We stopped at this Roadside Park and had lunch....nice wagon wheel picnic tables.

Back on the road again.....

We had thought we would stop in Fort Stockton for the night but kept going to Pecos, TX.

We stopped at Flying J to fuel up and we boondock here.   Manuel wanted to find an RV Park but I convinced him to park for the night here at Flying J.

As he fueled, he also cleaned the bugs off the Coach.  We traveled about 400 miles and will head out early in the morning.

The Wedding Day!

We left the house at 7:30 to start the decorating....everyone worked to get the job done!

 

The bride hurried to the motel to get her hair done...the girls are dressed and ready!

Then it was Elissa's turn.

I await to get my hair done ...meanwhile we enjoy our granddaughters.....

We had a wonderful time at the wedding and everything went very smooth.   We got a lot of compliments on the food.  Congratulations to the Happy Couple.

I am a week late on my posting but finally got my blog up and going again.   We had the Esparza Family Reunion today, and I will post some pictures tomorrow, maybe!
