This morning, Bob & JoAnn gave us a tour of the area. He was raised right in the Lake Dardanelle area. His grandparents used to own a big part of the property which is now Lake Dardanelle State Park. This is a beautiful area. Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoyed the tour.
We entered the property where Bob's grandparents lived. It is now owned by a cousin.
This is he main house. Bob has many fond memories of this place, the swings on the porch and just spending time on the property.
Several shacks on the property....
There is a pretty old wagon here....wonder how old?!
and yet another wagon in this barn....
This place (ranch) was just beautiful.
Then we headed up the road to the Lock & Dam.
A close up of the Dam....
and the Lock....
It has rained all day today but it did not stop us from touring the area.
We drove a few more miles in to Russellville and Manuel got a kick out of the "CHEEPO DEEPO Furniture" sign.
We ate at La Huerta Mexican Restaurant....not really Mexican, if you know what I mean. We even had Bob telling the waiters that what he ordered was not the Chile Relleno he ordered. They brought them what they called Chile Poblano and it still was not the right thing....They could learn a little from Bob if they wanted to. Interesting!
The restaurant was pretty neat. A lot of art on all the chairs and tables....
even the booths, back and front were painted....
and the toilet inside and out!
This is what I mean by inside the toilet!
Then we continued our tour to the area where The Srutkas lived. His parents also had a lot of beautiful property. Bob's parents' was burned but you could see all the roses on the fence. They had this street on which they lived, named after them. Isn't this awesome?! Srutka Circle.
We then dropped the guys off at the park and JoAnn and I went shopping for a good while.
Got home and the guys were ready to go eat so we went to Stoby's which is an old train depot building.
Pretty neat.
Old train cars all around the building.
Had a good dinner and took this coconut cream pie for dessert. Oh, it was good!
We had a great day. Thank you,Bob & JoAnn for a great Russellville tour!
