This morning, we took a road trip and toured the Davis Mountains State Park which is beautiful. The sights among these mountains are breathtaking.
This is the sight of The Indian Lodge from the top of the mountains…
We got a cold front in last night so it was cold out. It was about 35 degrees when we left the RV.
A view of the roads and RV park from above.
A zoomed view of the RV park.
A view of the town of Fort Davis from above. The higher we went, the skies looked hazy.
These are the Indian Lodges…..
This trailer/tent is pulled by a Harley….The lady seems to be cooking and it is cold out!
The mountains change so much as we traveled 24 miles to Alpine.
We arrive in Alpine. Nice artwork.
Nice looking little church.
This used to be known as Little Mexico. We ate at the Texas Fusion Cafe.
Tribute to Sul Ross University EXs.
Yes, Dan Blocker, Hoss from Bonanza, went to school here. Nicely done mural.
Another mural of West Texas…
We toured the campus of Sul Ross State University.

We visited the Big Bend Museum which is on the Sul Ross Campus.

Wagons….
and more wagons… These are replicas of what was used back in history.
The Commissary….
Nice wood burning stove…. The Gallegos Family owned the Green Cafe. The oldest son went on to law school and is now a State Representative and has been for 9 terms.
Nice Texas Boots on display!!!
The Mountain Laurels are in full bloom. They are beautiful.
Tonight we plan on going to see the Marfa lights. These are mystery lights that appear after the sun sets.
We left Fort Davis for a 24 mile drive up to Marfa. This is the Courthouse. Beautiful architecture.
Marfa’s Christian Church.
The downtown area.
Another nice old building…..
Another nice church.
This old, Food Shark is a plymouth, I think.
We got a kick out of the name of this Liquor Store, El Cheapo.
The Courthouse as the sun sets…..
A dedication of the Marfa Lights Viewing Center…Note: I mentioned the Gallego Family who owned the Green Cafe in the Big Bend area. Pete Gallego is the child that attended law school and became a State Representative. He is acknowledged below.
We wait in the cold. It was 48 degrees when we left Fort Davis at 6 pm and on the way back, the thermometer read 30 degrees at 8 pm. It is cold…..brrrrrrrrr!
This is the Viewing Center as the sun sets. Beautiful.
The sun has set and we wait for the darkness to come. We wait for the lights…..
It was very very cold….everyone is gone and we are the last ones to leave. We did not experience anything….
We had a very nice day and got to see a lot in this area. Tomorrow we will head out and travel towards Junction or Fredericksburg. I will stay posted.
