We moved to another RV Park this morning. We are staying at the MacMillen In The Highlands RV Resort. It is pretty nice here.
After setting up, Manuel washes the SUV and RV.
We found this church at the foothills of these beautiful mountains. This historical marker is dedicated to Jefferson Davis at the County Offices.
Beautiful County Office Building.
This is the Fort Davis State Bank. Nice building.
This is another famous Manuel. He is Manuel Gonzalez. Downtown stores.
Another church in this town. It has several others churches.
This old Burlington Northern train car is an ice cream and snow cone place.
This is the only grocery store in town.
More of downtown…..
This is a fudge store but also an antique store.
This indian and bear greet you as you enter the store. Nice safe, isn’t it?!
Multiple flowers around the downtown area.
We enter Fort Davis National Historic Park.
The visitors center has a little museum. They showed us a 15 minute video narrated by Kareen Abdul Jabar, who was a Basketball Player with the Lakers.
Neat barracks….
Soldiers and ammunition are shown below.
These two long building are the enlisted soldiers barracks.
The flag flies amist the Fort. This is a beautiful area. These are restored ruins of the Fort.
The two story buildings were where the high ranking military personnel lived.
This was the Commanders quarters. His house is in the middle of 12 other military houses.
These are the other houses.
Inside the Commanding Officers house…..the dining room.
The study…..
The bedroom…..
The children’s room….
They had servant’s quarters right behind the Commanders Quarters.
The Servants quarters plus the kitchen.
Another restored building……
Beautiful scenery from the backdoor of all these homes…..
This used to serve as a church, dance hall and just a gathering place.
This is the commissary…..
More food supplies This is the head of the commissary.
Yes, we are a little tired from all the walking but it was a very enjoyable self tour.
