Our visit to the National Shrine of The Cross In The Woods was very touching for all of us, I believe.
The Lambes had been here years ago and they felt it was one place we would really enjoy and we sure did!
Manuel and I are in awe as we walk and see this beautiful Shrine....
The Cross is made of a Redwood Tree cut down in the Mountains of Oregon. This was done in 1953.
The Cross is 55 feet high and 22 feet wide.
The Corpus (Body) was designed by Marshall Fredericks and cast in bronze in Norway.
The Corpus weights 7 tons and is 28 feet from head to toe and the outstretched arms span 21 feet.
Janet takes a picture of Manuel and I. Imagine the size from this....
It was very cloudy so the pictures are too dark. It did not rain while we were here though.
We walked up the right side stairs to The Cross.
This is at the foot of the cross.... Before heading down the stairs, I take the following pictures looking down.
A look from The Cross at the indoor worship place/Church. This area seats 1000.
Beautiful trees surround the Shrine.
The outdoor Alter, all made of granite.
Then we walk the grounds and stop by each Saint statue....
Saint Peregrine-Patron of Cancer Patients...The Lambes bought this St. Peregrine coin for Manuel. St. Peregrine is on the front side.
Thank you, George and Janet. This has been an especially wonderful place to visit.
We are very thankful to Jesus and St. Peregrine. Even though Manuel continues to fight cancer, he feels good and we stay positive that he will be healed.
We give thanks daily. Corina introduced us to St. Peregrine while in Seattle when we visited the Grotto there.
Walked this beautiful area of the Stations of The Cross.
Pictures are not too clear because Stations of the Cross are encased in glass....
We enter the indoor church. As we face the indoor alter, this is what we see...
The Holy Water fountain....
Silent moments of reflection and prayer..... I sat at the very front....it is an awesome feeling to be in this Holy Shrine.
I could not get enough pictures here.....so peaceful and we are so thankful for all the suffering Jesus went through for us...
Another Crucifix inside the Church. A couple of pictures of Christmas time pictures....
We went on to visit the Doll Museum and other articles used in the Church.
There are Dolls from everywhere in the world.....
Found several from San Antonio, TX Found one from Victoria, TX
All size dolls, miniatures to life size.
This was an awesome place to visit. Just awesome! Thank you, God!
