We left Bellevue early this morning for our hour and a half drive. the morning started off like yesterday, overcast and cold. Yesterday, we got an email from Steve and Sandy Allgire, who live in this area. In checking our blog, they found us to be fairly close to where they live. Tomorrow, Friday, I will call them to see if we can get together. We met Steve and Sandy in Quartzsite, AZ this past winter. We look forward to seeing them.....
We began to see many farms and it was a very nice drive.
A farmer's work is never done....
The bikers are out, too!
Yes, very curvy and mountainy.....
A few more miles before we get to the Larrabee State Park.
I feel so much better when we are parked....I love the sights but again, the mountains do make me nervous.
This park is on a mountain so we are on a slope...this is the RV next to us. He had it jacked up pretty high!
We got to our site and got all set up then headed to sightsee in Bellingham. This is a very nice town.
We were pretty hungry and were craving some hot soup.
They had some wonderful soup, salad and sandwiches.
They make their own breads and they are soooooo gooood!
......and the pastries!!!!!!
Then we walk our food off and find this to be a really touristy town....really nice.
The Sphere below was in front of the Bus Terminal. This plaque does not say much about it, but we found it to be very interesting.
Took this shot from across the street...
This shot was from below the sphere....
another coffee shop.
While I walk, Manuel sits for a while to rest....
We then leave Downtown Bellingham and drive to the WhatCom Museum. Nice Mural....
This is the beautiful 1892 Historic City Hall building which is now a museum.
another beautiful mural....
There are no plaques on this piece of art so I asked a young lady if she know anything about it. She said it is just a modern piece of art.....okay.
The Registered National Historic Bellingham Bay Building is now the U S Dept of Interior.
There are many restaurants and clubs in this area. Pretty quiet right now.
The tower of the Mt. Baker Theatre.
We then follow the Bellingham Bay on Chuckanut Rd/Hwy 11. It is very woody so I took photos as permitted.
The marina at distance.....this is a beautiful area.
Photos of Fairhaven will be in the next post. I have too many pictures. We enjoyed our day out!
