After breakfast, Steve and Sandy took us on a road trip thru Concrete, Rockport and Marblemount. What a beautiful area this was. There are many parks, river and mountains which make spectacular scenery. There is a mist so the pictures are not as clear as I would like, nevertheless, the scenery is beautiful.
This is up on Burpee Hill Road by Steve and Sandy's place, looking down at Concrete, WA.
Concrete is a small town but very historic. Years back, it used to be very industrial. They used to produce concrete, which is how the town got its name.
The old school....
Murals in town....
an old man-made canoe....
A retired ferry...
This beautiful chapel is the smallest I have ever seen. So pretty.
We visited this fishery and it was really interesting. The guide we had was very knowledgeable.
The Salmon eggs....the black spots re the eyes....
The hatched eggs...
a little bigger...

We walk down to the area where they hold the adult salmon....
I try and try to get a good picture but only got this. You can see two salmon....
The hatchery...
Back to the information center.
We stopped at the Canadian Farm, it only has organic items. It is surrounded by the berry farms, vegetables, and flowers. It is at the foot of mountains so it is a beautiful setting....
Yep! Their ice cream is really good....
The wild flowers....
This river view is right across the street.
The berry wagon....it is loaded with berries.
the restrooms....
Then we stopped at a wood carving shop....note the faces carved!
We stopped at the grocery store and this was the scene. So beautiful!
Back at Steve and Sandy's. We are parked caddy-corner from them. This is a very nice place.
The creek that runs behind their place.
The water is crystal clear...
Manuel and Steve as Steve prepares to barbeque.
The dogs take a drink from the creek...
We have had a very nice time with Sandy and Steve. Thank you guys for your hospitality!
We will leave tomorrow morning and drive to McChord Air Force Base.

It was nice to see that you got a chance to visit with Sandy and Steve. It is a beautiful area. Before we knew Sandy and Steve we drove the Washington state highway 20 from west to east. Seeing the pictures of Tom Porter’s cabin, the old canoe and the retired ferry reminded us that we had stayed overnight, July 22, 2007, at the Howard Miller Steelhead County Park on the Skagit River in Rockport. When we were there we backed up to the river and it looked like it was ready to overflow its banks, but the camp hosts assured us that the river was receding and that they would be warned if it started raining upstream. There is so much of this country to see and so little time left to do it in --- but that’s another subject.
Have fun
Dave and Sandy
