Fort Lewis & American Lake, WA

These pictures are from yesterday, Saturday and today, Sunday.   We drove 3 miles to Fort Lewis, which is an Army base.  They have this beautiful statues honoring soldiers....

We walked in to the BX and they had a couple of book signing artists....

Warren Moon, NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback signing his "Never Give Up On Your Dream" book.  He was also signing footballs, etc.   He is now retired but used to play for the Houston Oilers and San Antonio's Red McCombs' Minnesota Vikings.     

Then they had J. A. Jance signing her "Fire and Ice" book.

 

Today, Sunday,we went to church services here on base and then headed out to The American Lake Park, only 3 miles away.   This is a very nice park.   Many people were out picnicking;it was a cool day.  The high was 73.

American Lake is very beautiful, too.   Many boaters were out.

This sea plane is docked with all the other boats....

The Fort Lewis FamCamp is across the lake.

We then drive over to the marina on American Lake at Fort Lewis.

They were having a picnic here at Fort Lewis for all military families and retirees.  

They had a petting zoo for the children.   Lari and Arianna would have loved this....

We drove back to McChord and will prepare to move tomorrow morning.   We will drive to the Seattle area (Bellevue), 36 miles, to wait for Corina.   She will arrive on Tuesday evening.....We will stay in touch.   We have had a wonderful three weeks here at McChord AFB  and the Pacific West Coast.

We have met at least three couples from San Antonio at this park....Jesse, do you know Mary Praegitzer who works for Holt's Part Dept there in San Antonio?   Her parents have been camped here as long as we have and they also leave tomorrow.....very nice people.
