Today, Manuel stayed in and Corina and I drove to the Seattle Harbor. We started our day at Starbucks and then just walked the Harbor. We had a lot of sunshine but it was cool...
The World Trade Center...
We stop at the Argosy Ticket booth to purchase tickets for the 1 pm Locks Cruise on the Argosy.
We continue our shopping....
We then have our lunch at the Alaskan Sourdough Bakery before the cruise.
We walked the harbor from end to end. It is so beautiful to walk. We are now back to board.
A view of Seattle from the cruise liner....
We traveled the salt water of the Puget Sound and the fresh water of Lake Union via the Hiram Chittenden Locks. I will have pictures of the Locks in the post later...
These are the Olympic Mountains....It is still a little hazy...
A very busy marina....
These are some small houses on the waterfront.
The Railroad draw bridge is very interesting. It is lifting as we approach it...
More homes...
We approached the Locks. There were gates in front of us and behind us. These are then closed to trap the salt water from mixing with the fresh water. The boats, ships, etc. are then raised by elevators about 8 feet so the waters do not mix. I had never seen this before so it was very interesting.
The gates lock to trap the water....then we will be lifted.
Here, the water levels are about 8 foot difference.....
We leave the locks....
These boats wait to go thru the locks....
This ship is being worked on. It will be a private residence.
We cross one more bridge, The Ballard Bridge.
A community of boat houses....
Another bridge....
It must be nice to live in one of these boathouses....
The "Sleepless in Seattle" boathouse. It is on the market for $2.5 Million....
This was a two and a half hour tour on the Argosy....we then board a chartered bus to head back into town.
We really enjoyed our cruise on the Argosy....We will go the Pike Place Market.
