This area of Pennsylvania is beautiful with many old churches, homes and barns. Hope you enjoy them as much as we have.
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is a beautiful place to visit. Tomorrow we will move on from this park.
We are both retired and enjoy traveling. We set up this blog to let our family and friends know what we are up to as we travel the highways of the USA.

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is a beautiful place to visit. Tomorrow we will move on from this park.
Our last stop today was to the Historical Round Barn and Farm Market which was 8 miles from the RV Park in Biglerville. We saw many nice big farms and homes on this route so I will post more of that on a later post.
We are arriving at the Round Barn....many apple trees surround the property. This barn was built by John Fritz for the Noah Sheely Family in 1914 after their barn burned down. Keep in mind that this builder had no modern equipment so he used a hammer, saw, axe and a square.
The barn's circumference is 282 feet with a diameter of over 87 feet. It is structured around a central silo measuring 60 feet high and 12 feet wide with storage capacity of 145 tons.
An inviting seating area as you enter the barn....
The market is huge....with many items.
Manuel and I went up stairs to take pictures. After pictures, we came back down the narrow stairs.
The 2nd floor is HUGE! This is made up of 2x6 boards.
They have church benches up there but a lot of empty spaces.
Shuttered windows bring in some light but it is still pretty dark up there.
This is the central silo which is made out of brick/stone.
This is an amazing place with very, very a tall ceiling.
They had a nice display of round barns found in the United States.
Went back down and then outside the grounds.....found this nice looking gas pump.
The goats grazing...
the old wagon.....
the yellow-starred horse.
The apple orchards...
smaller buildings around the Round Barn..
a nice looking building.
This was an awesome place to visit.....
