We spent the day in Tacoma today. Today is Manuel's 36th (??) Birthday. We had a great day and enjoyed the sights of Tacoma. This is a beautiful City and has a lot to see.....
We first drove through the downtown streets and found many old but beautifully architechtured buildings. The red bricked building is the old City Hall.....the white bricked is being renovated.
Another old old building....
A view of the Glass Museum....odd shaped. More to come on this.
We drive down this path to the Old Town Historical District.
Really beautiful....
Carr's Hall built in 1888. It was a Temple, later used as school, grocery store, etc. Now a restaurant.
This statue is in front of the Slavonian Hall which is an event center.
Then we stopped at Tully's Coffee Shop and were there keeping warm for about an hour.
More of this area....a lot of shops, restaurants, coffee & tea shops.
This was the Steele Hotel built in 1868; it is still a hotel.
An old home, now a business....
Gateway Park is along Commencement Bay. This is a strange pine....the trunk curves like a snake.
Beautiful & colorful plants.
The Union Pacific train runs along the bay. A Navy Ship sits on the bay...
The Conductor boards the train.....it soon took off....
The Navy Ship is obstructed by the freeway.
More of the park....
This tree is growing out of the building and entwines with the pole (church steeple and bell).
I took it in two parts because it was very tall.
We left the Historic District and went to walk the Downtown area. It was 1:30 pm & only 66 degrees!!!
The Bank of California ....nice building. I like these old buildings and probably take too many pictures of them but I like that.
The Greater Tacoma Convention Center....very modern.
The Pacific Grill & Cafe, the old Historic Waddell Building.
We decide to ride the Tacoma Link Light Rail...it is a free ride.
Shops & restaurants in front of the Dome Station.
These are taken while riding the light rail...Downtown area....
We came back downtown to eat at The Harmon Brewery & Restaurant.
Nice place..... Soup & Salad were good.
Beautiful bar....
This was an interesting booth....ski lift surrounded by snow skis.
I will post more of today's pictures in separate post....again, I have too many.
