This morning we left the RV Park at Wal-Mart in Merced and drove to Bakersfield, CA. This is in the San Joaquin Valley. There are a lot of fruit trees and vegetable fields in this area. The fields of vineyards, apples & orange orchards and sugarcane are awesome to see.
Our destination this morning was Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, CA., about 166 miles away.
There are several vineyards and orchards that are let to dry. We wondered if it is because of the economy. This is sad to see after so much time and money are put into these fields of produce.
We also wondered why they cover the grape vines with white plastic. Does anyone know?
These people are hard at work in the vineyards.
Green, Green fields.
We arrived at the Park and it looks really nice.
This RV Park is an Orange Grove....so awesome. All the orange trees are full of oranges.
After we parked, cooled of a little (it is 100 degrees out and it is 6 pm). The gauge showed 110 when we got here at about 1pm but it is dry heat so it is bearable for us. Big temp change from Washington and Oregon!
I decided to walk around the park and take some pictures....it's neat!
This old town is fixed on the barn you will see at the end....Nice idea!
Close up of the old town....I could not capture it all in one picture.
The orange trees are and full of oranges. Their stumps, all painted white, are so weird looking.
A nicely trimmed tree...... The girl in the office said this was a grapefruit tree.
Across the street is this vineyard....
The grapes have been picked. Too bad!!
Orange is everywhere here. The Men and Women's bathrooms....
An old Texaco gas pump....
The pool looked inviting since it is hot out!
You can barely see the mountains in the background. This is a beautiful park.
The flowers around the park. I think they are Verbena, since it is heat resistant.
All the streets in the park are named after orange terms....
We are on Sunkist Lane.
Oranges are still green but will be ready in a couple of months....
I found this bad orange.....
This is the barn that has the left side made to look like an old town. Very creative people.
Back at the Coach. Tomorrow, we will check out the Bakersfield sights.
